Brad Pitt surprised fans at a screening of World War Z in New Jersey on Wednesday night, handing out T-shirts and personally addressing the excited audience members.

The star told the Hoboken crowd, “Thank you all for coming out. I know it’s late, and we really appreciate it… Today we came out to show the film for the people we made it for—our fans!”

Pitt added, “We said, well there’s no other place better than Jersey!”
The actor, who has been through an emotional time lately in dealing with Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy, appeared in great spirits as he talked to fans.
World War Z opens on June 21.
