Parker Posey Exits NBC Series ‘Family Guide’

A day after NBC ordered comedy The Family Guide to series, the show is losing its leading lady.

Parker Posey has parted ways with the single-camera comedy in which she was poised to co-star, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Family Guide revolves around a family that's brought together by divorce, with Posey playing the ex-wife opposite J.K. Simmons.

Sources tell THR that the actress did not have a good experience on the pilot. NBC and studio Universal Television declined comment. The role will now be recast with a search under way to replace the actress, who counts Louie among her credits.

Posey's departure marks the latest casting change this season. Christina Ricci parted ways with Girlfriend in a Coma, pushing the Dick Wolf comedy off-cycle; Grey's Anatomy's Chyler Leigh was replaced by Erinn Hayes on its passed-over pilot Holding Patterns; and Aly Michalka was replaced by Briga Heelan on Undateable, which scored a series order Friday.

Family Guide hails from Up All Night's DJ Nash and executive producers Jason Bateman and Jim Garavente. The pilot was directed by Friends alum David Schwimmer.
