Josh Friedman is setting sail with Universal Television.
The executive producer behind Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has inked a two-year overall with the studio and joined upcoming pirate drama Crossbones, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Under the pact, Friedman will develop and supervise projects for the studio and will serve as a co-executive producer on the drama starring John Malkovich.
"Josh Friedman puts a distinct, unique spin on everything he writes. He taps into interesting worlds and is a very talented writer," Universal Television's Bela Bajaria said. "We've followed his career for years and are excited to be in business with him."

Before coming to Universal TV, Friedman had an overall deal with 20th Television, where he was an executive producer/writer on last year's drama pilot The Asset, which was passed over at Fox as well as Fox's graphic novel adaptation Locke and Key. More recently, he served as a writer/consulting producer on Fox's short-lived Bones spinoff The Finder. On the feature side, his credits include co-writing War of the Worlds for Steven Spielberg and penning Black Dahlia for Brian DePalma.
Friedman is repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman. Crossbones will premiere midseason on NBC.
