Jose Canseco claims he’s been charged with rape — and even named his accuser on Twitter.
The onetime major league baseball star made the revelation on Wednesday in a series of bizarre tweets, many of which he later deleted.
Police in Las Vegas have confirmed that that Canseco is a “person of interest” in an alleged sexual assault investigation, but the District Attorney in Clark County has not formally filed charged against him as of now.
Shortly after 10 a.m. Pacific, Canseco tweeted, “Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police was just at my house i have been charged with rape by [WOMAN'S NAME] from las vegas.”
The athlete continued to live-tweet the experience while identifying the woman — a seriously questionable decision.
“All media welcome to this drama filled event. Did i rape [WOMAN'S NAME] or is she lieing (sic). Stay tuned to another day in the life of jose canseco,” he tweeted.
Canseco then wrote, “[WOMAN'S NAME] told the police that i druged (sic) her and then raped her. hmmmmm. lets find out what really happened.”
It didn’t end there.
Canseco tweeted a picture of a woman in a bikini — presumably his accuser — identifying her as a “fitness model” and challenging her to take a “polygraph.”
He even posted the woman’s apparent phone number on Twitter, demanding that media outlets call her and “ask her if she will take a polygraph. lol.”
After telling his followers that he was about to board a plane to play in Dallas-Fort Worth, Canseco posted his alleged accuser’s work address.
Wow.
Canseco’s last tweet on the matter (for now): “Lets play truth or dare. I dare [WOMAN'S NAME] to tell the truth.”
According to TMZ, the person who filed the police report against Canseco says the alleged incident occurred on May 10.
