Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's marriage is just fine, thank you very much -- and to prove it, the couple appeared together on the May 18 season finale of Saturday Night Live. Taking the stage for his opening monologue, the Argo director (and five-time SNL host) addressed his "completely terrifying" Oscars acceptance speech, in which he called his marriage to Garner "work."

"You may remember that in my speech, I thanked my wife, while also saying that the essence of marriage is work," he explained, noting that some "uncharitable souls" took that to mean "manual labor."
"That's not it," he continued. "You define what's important to you by what you dedicate your time to."

Affleck, 40, then invited his wife of more than seven years to join him onstage. Rocking a sexy little black dress, the Butter star appeared next to him to explain that "work" is a word the two use when they talk privately about their commitment to one another -- though why he had to "share it live to a billion people" was beyond her.
Asked what word she would have used instead, Garner quipped, "Gift! I would have said, 'Thank you to my wife, our marriage is a gift!'"

The couple -- who have three kids together -- then engaged in a bit of playful banter about who actually does the work in their marriage, after which a seemingly sincere Affleck told his wife how he wished he'd ended his Oscars speech. "You're my angel, my life, my world," he gushed.
Garner, 41, was unimpressed. "You're reading that," she deadpanned, pointing to a man holding a cue card in the wings.
