"The Following"
As the season winds down on The Following, Fox is hoping to expand the universe.
The network has debuted a new e-book, available on iTunes, that is intended to give viewers another opportunity to explore the story behind ex-FBI Agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy).
Never-before-seen artwork, images and videos, including interviews with Bacon and Purefoy and a glimpse behind the scenes with creator Kevin Williamson and executive producer Marcos Siega. Additionally, it will spotlight the series' biggest moments so far.
In the penultimate episode of the season, airing April 22, Ryan, Parker (Annie Parisse) and Weston (Shawn Ashmore) prepare to storm the followers' mansion, but Joe already has an escape plan. The finale, airing April 29, finds Ryan racing to stop Joe before he reaches his deadly endgame.
The news of the e-book comes as networks continue to extend the reach of its various serialized efforts. For The Following, which Fox began marketing in October, campaigns honed in on the drama's serial killer premise and targeting audiences during the World Series coverage and in theaters prior to horror films like Paranormal Activity 4.
A first look at the e-book offering:
The Following airs at 9 p.m. Mondays on Fox.
