Peter Berg is heading to HBO.
The producer has boarded Damon Lindelof's adaptation of The Leftovers for HBO, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Berg will direct and executive produce the dramatic adaptation of Tom Perrotta's best-seller, marking his second pilot this season. Berg's Film 44 partner, Sarah Aubrey, will also executive produce.

Lindelof will write the project with Perrotta under the former's three-year deal with Warner Bros. Television. HBO will produce alongside WBTV. Perrotta also will executive produce with Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger. Should the project move forward from its development status, Lindelof would serve as showrunner.
Leftovers, which was published in May, revolves around the Rapture and follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton. They must begin to rebuild their lives after the sudden and mysterious disappearance of more than 100 people.
The HBO vehicle joins Berg's NBC drama Bloodline this pilot season. Berg will direct and executive produce (with Aubrey) will the pulp thriller about a girl caught between warring families of mercenaries and killers.
