Mark Wahlberg was not in the mood to celebrate at a New York screening of Pain & Gain on Monday.

The actor was still struggling to cope with the Boston Marathon bombings that had devastated his hometown just hours earlier.

“I really didn’t even want to come tonight,” Wahlberg told the Associated Press. “I hadn’t really heard much — I spoke to my mom, and most of my family seems to be OK. It’s such a big event, there’s so many people there.”

He continued, “It’s horrible. It’s [expletive] disgusting, man. I just… I’m very upset.”

“You try to put everything in God’s hands and whatever happens here is out of our control and there’s a bigger picture,” said Wahlberg. “But it’s still obviously upsetting.”

50 Cent was also in attendance at the Pain & Gain event, and was appalled by the Boston tragedy.

“Why is it even happening?” asked the rapper. “But there’s no explanation. We don’t even know what happened [yet].”
