‘Dexter’: Yvonne Strahovski Set to Return

Hannah McKay is returning to Dexter.

Yvonne Strahovski has booked a return trip to the Michael C. Hall-Jennifer Carpenter Showtime drama, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

As first reported by EW, the former Chuck star will reprise her role as the serial killer florist and Dexter's ex-girlfriend in the upcoming eighth and potentially final season of Dexter with a multiple-episode arc.

The return should come as no surprise after Dexter EP Scott Buck told THR in December that he hoped Strahovski would be back. "We're in the process of making deals now," he said at the time.

In the seventh-season finale, Hannah was last seen escaping from the hospital and leaving a very cryptic flower on Dexter's doorstep.

"It was a very dark shot, but it was a black orchid, which is meant to be a very ominous sign from Hannah that Dexter would understand what it meant," Buck told THR after the episode.

The last time Dexter saw Hannah was when he visited her in jail, with their final exchange turning bloody when she bit his lip during a final kiss. "She's got very complicated feelings for Dexter; she loves and hates him at the same time," Buck said.

Meanwhile, Deb (Carpenter) is fully aware of Hannah's capabilities -- and her own, having killed LaGuerta to protect her foster brother in the shocking season finale. Will there be a final showdown for Dexter's affections between the two women who know of Dexter's Dark Passenger?

Showtime has yet to make a formal decision on the future of the long-running drama, though CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves -- who oversees sibling network Showtime -- recently called the upcoming eighth season the show's "last."

Dexter returns Sunday, June 30, on Showtime for its first spring bow.
