Brad Paisley Attempts to Explain LL Cool J Duet “Accidental Racist” On Ellen (VIDEO)

Brad Paisley attempted to explain his controversial new collaboration with LL Cool J, “Accidental Racist,” on Tuesday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The country star told the host, “I don’t know if any of you noticed, but there’s some racial tension, here and there,” adding that the song “kind of deals with that.”

Paisley noted, “I felt like when we were writing this song it wasn’t necessarily up to the media. I don’t really trust sort of, I guess, Hollywood… or sort of talk radio or anything like that to deal with that anymore. I think it’s music’s turn to have the conversation.”

DeGeneres prompted, “So, but you’re basically saying…” to which Paisley responded, “I don’t know,” before vaguely explaining how the song brought together a “proud Southerner” and a “black New Yorker.”
