American Idol, with a 3.1 adults rating and 12 million viewers for its two-hour episode, gave Fox a Wednesday win -- but the series shed half of a point from last week's episode for a performance show low.

On ABC, The Middle (1.8 adults) dropped three tenths of a point before the season finale of The Neighbors (1.5 adults). The freshman comedy was up a tenth of a point from last week's low. Modern Family (3.2 adults), hitting its lowest rating since 2009, was down by eight tenths of a point. Suburgatory (1.9 adults) jumped with the original lead by four tenths of a point. Nashville (1.5 adults), hitting a low, was down another tenth of a point. ABC averaged a 1.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers.
Survivor (2.4 adults) tied a low, losing two tenths of a point from last week. The rest of CBS' lineup was in encores, giving the network an average 1.7 rating with adults 18-49 and 7.3 million viewers.
Back-to-back episodes of Whitney, the season finale, brought a 1.0 and 1.1 rating with adults 18-49. The second half-hour was up a tenth from last week's series low. Both Law & Order: SVU (1.7 adults) and Chicago Fire (1.8 adults) were up a tenth of a point from last week's scores. The network averaged a 1.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers.
On the CW, Arrow (0.8 adults) lost two tenths of a point from last week's haul, while Supernatural (1.0 adults) held even at 9 p.m. The network averaged a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers.
Univision averaged a 1.5 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers.
