Tim Kring is prepping a new conspiracy drama.
The Heroes creator is teaming with Sonar Entertainment to partner on The Drake Equation, a drama about the discovery of a mysterious signal from outer space. Weeks after the discovery, governments activate an international Space Intelligence Agency to keep the secret contained and prevent society's breakdown.
As part of the pre-emptive measures, observatories and scientific institutions are shut down and a campaign of disinformation begins. As word leaks and people take matters into their own hands, a government agent is tasked with figuring out who is telling the truth -- the scientists or the hackers -- in order to save the world.

Tarzan author and comics scribe Andy Briggs will pen the pilot, with Kring on board to executive produce alongside Sonar, Pure Grass Films, Connect Ventures and PlayThisNext. No network is attached, though producers are shopping the project to both broadcast and cable.
Drake also will feature a real-time digital narrative using social media and interactive gaming, which will run simultaneously to the potential series. Among the online offerings, found footage, time-sensitive clues and covert files will help create the dual-screen story.
“Today’s audiences expect nothing less than a totally immersive and interactive viewing experience that is also narrative and character driven,” Kring said. “With The Drake Equation, we’ve taken the classic alien-invasion genre and completely reinvented it.”
The project comes as Kring's Touch is in its second season and recently featured a web component through the digital series Daybreak.
Kring is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Hansen Jacobson.
