CW’s ‘Tomorrow People’ Casts Newcomer as Robbie Amell’s Best Friend

The CW's The Tomorrow People is welcoming a relative newcomer into the fray.

Actress Madeleine Mantock, whose main credit is British medical series Casualty, has joined the one-hour drama pilot from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the original U.K. series, Tomorrow People tells the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together, they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Mantock will play Astrid, loyal, classically beautiful and effortlessly cool, who is secretly in love with Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), with whom she's been friends with since they were toddlers. She is concerned about Stephen and worries that he's stopped taking his medication. Mad Men's Peyton List, Aussie soap star Luke Mitchell and Mark Pellegrino co-star.

Political Animals' Phil Klemmer will write and executive produce, with Berlanti, Plec and Danny Cannon, who will direct. Melissa Kellner Berman will co-executive produce. Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti Productions and FermantleMedia produce.
