The Carrie Diaries is getting a dose of the Bradshaw bond.
On Monday's episode, "The Long and Winding Road Not Taken," Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) is torn between spending her birthday with her friends or the chance to socialize with New York literati, while her younger sister Dorrit goes on a search for the perfect gift for Carrie.
As actress Stefania Owen, who plays the rebellious rocker teen Dorrit, tells The Hollywood Reporter there is a moment in the hour that showcases just how close the bond between the Bradshaw sisters could be at the end of the day. "That’s a great scene in the episode because you see those two sisters bond and you can see their love for one another," she says.

Owen talks to THR about the rollercoaster rides that are Dorrit's relationship with her sister and father, and much more.
The Hollywood Reporter: I know you shot in NYC. Was there a specific location you shot at that you particularly enjoyed?
Stefania Owen: I loved filming at the Chelsea Hotel. We did an episode focused on that hotel and we got to see Marilyn Monroe’s room and we got to see Sid Vicious’ room so it was like a history lesson.
THR: There are peaks and valleys to Carrie and Dorrit's relationship. How has it evolved over the course of the series?
Owen: Dorrit and Carrie’s relationship is always up and down so sometimes you see them fighting and hating each other, but you also see that side where they do really need each other and how family is so important. Carrie and Dorrit’s relationship is a typical sister relationship that people can understand because, if you have siblings, it's what you go through. You have fights but when you need each other, you need each other.

THR: What about Dorrit's relationship with her father Tom?
Owen: [While] Dorrit is really mean to her dad, deep, deep down inside she does love him. Because her mom died -- Dorrit and her mom were very close, and Carrie and her dad were very close -- Dorrit acts out against her dad because she doesn’t want him to take her mom’s role. That’s her way of coping, to rebel and to annoy her dad. Matt [Letscher, who plays Tom,] and I have a great time.
THR: What can you tease for the next episode? We know Dorrit searches for a gift for Carrie?
Owen: Dorrit doesn’t have a job so she can’t afford anything big, but in the end, Dorrit gets something that is meaningful to both [of them] and it really touches Carrie. That’s a great scene in the episode because you see those two sisters bond and you can see their love for one another.
THR: She has a different style compared to her sister. What has been your favorite outfit?
Owen: There have been some great outfits that Dorrit wears but I loved the Halloween episode when she wears this black, poofy skirt with skeleton leggings. The hair and makeup make it too.
THR: Is there a scene in the next few episodes we should look out for?
Owen: In the next episode, there’s a surprise that no one will expect for Dorrit and I’m excited to see how it plays out.
