Beau Bridges to Play Will Arnett’s Father in CBS Comedy

Beau Bridges is reteaming with Greg Garcia.

The actor, who had a recurring guest arc on the showrunner's My Name Is Earl, has joined the cast of his "unauthorized" CBS comedy pilot starring Will Arnett, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The multicamera comedy centers on a recently divorced man named Jack (Up All Night's Arnett), whose life gets more complicated when his parents have marital problems of their own.

Bridges will play Tom, Jack's father and husband to Carol (Justified's Margo Martindale), a hapless, clueless klutz. When he hears that his son has been divorced for some time, he decides to split from his wife of 43 years and move in with his daughter, Debbie (It's Always Sunny's Mary Elizabeth Ellis), and her family.

Raising Hope's Garcia will write and executive produce the show, with veteran director James Burrows on board to helm the CBS Television Studios entry. JB Smoove co-stars. The casting reunites Bridges with Martindale, with whom he worked on Showtime's upcoming drama Masters of Sex.

The project reteams Bridges and Garcia, who previously worked together on Earl, where the former recurred as Carl Hickey over seven episodes from 2005-08, earning an Emmy nomination for his guest work. Repped by CAA, Bridges' TV credits also include Stargate SG-1, Brothers & Sisters and a recent arc on Franklin & Bash. He's a 14-time Emmy nominee, taking home the statuette for supporting actor in The Second Civil War and actor in a mini for The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom and Without Warning.
