The CBS lineup was back in originals for the first Thursday since the return of American Idol, nabbing the night's best average in adults 18-49 (3.4 rating) and total viewers (14 million) in the process. The Big Bang Theory, the night's dominant broadcast, still took a hit from its last original. Fast National ratings have it down nine tenths of a point to a 5.3 adults rating. Two and a Half Men (3.9 adults) was off three tenths, while Person of Interest (3.2 adults) dropped only a tenth. Elementary (2.2 adults), the network's choice for Sunday's big post-Super Bowl slot, was down two tenths of a point from its last original.

American Idol (4.5 adults) was off seven tenths from last week's Thursday outing, facing its first night of all original competition since returning two weeks ago. Glee (2.1 adults) dropped half of a point. The network averaged a 3.3 rating with adults 18-49 and 9.6 million viewers.

An repeat special of Shark Tank led into a dipping Grey's Anatomy. The series was tied at a low of a 2.8 adults rating, down two tenths from its last original. At 10 p.m., Scandal (2.7 adults) rose a tenth of a point. It retained a record portion of its Grey's lead, narrowly losing to the veteran drama. ABC averaged a 2.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers.

30 Rock (1.9 adults) signed off on NBC, up a half of a point from last week's episode and the last season finale. The one-hour series ender also pulled 4.8 million viewers, making it the comedy's most-watched episode in two years. The Office aired back-to-back episodes, rising a tenth of a point in its normal 9 p.m. slot to a 2.1 adults rating. At 9:30, it dropped to a 1.9 adults rating, tying a series low. The premiere of Do No Harm barely registered at 10 p.m. The freshman drama, which took over the slot from Rock Center With Brian Williams, pulled a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49. That's down 55 percent from last March's ill-fated launch of Awake in the same time period -- and, for those keeping track, the lowest-rated scripted launch ever on one of the big four. NBC averaged a 1.6 adults rating and 4.1 million viewers.

Both The Vampire Diaries (1.3 adults) and Beauty and the Beast (0.7 adults) were even with their last showings on the CW, giving the network an average 1.0 adults rating and 2.2 million viewers.

Univision posted a 1.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 4 million viewers.
