AMC's drama pilot Turn has enlisted a Torchwood alum.
Burn Gorman, who played medical officer/field agent Owen on Torchwood, has joined the cast of the drama from Nikita's Craig Silverstein, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Based on Alexander Rose's book Washington's Spies, Turn is set during the summer of 1778 and centers on a New York farmer named Abe Woodhull, who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form the Culper Ring, a group of spies who turn the tide in America's fight for independence.

Gorman will play Hewlett, a British Major assigned to the Colonies, billeted at the home of Magistrate Richard Woodhull. He's a romantic at heart, chivalrous and firm who holds to the letter of the law. Hewlett is disturbed by Abe's lawlessness and sees it as a symptom of a more serious disease affecting the Colonies: anarchy.
From AMC Studios, Silverstein will pen the project with Barry Josephson exec producing via his Josephson Entertainment.
Gorman, whose credits include Spies of Warsaw and The Hour, joins a cast that includes Meegan Warner and Daniel Henshall, who play Abe's wife Mary and Caleb, a lieutenant in the 2nd Continental Artillery, respectively.
