TLC Renews ‘Breaking Amish’ For Second Season (Exclusive)

Breaking Amish NYC Skyline - H 2012

TLC

TLC has ordered a second season of Breaking Amish.

The popular unscripted series will reunite the five former Amish and Mennonite men and women from the first cast, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Production has already started on the eight hour-long episodes, with a premiere eyed for May.

Breaking Amish, which averaged a robust 3.2 million viewers for the cable network during its freshman run, drew criticism for reports of casting individuals long-removed from the Amish and Mennonite communities. Still, the same group -- Abe, Rebecca, Kate, Sabrina and Jeremiah -- will be part of the second order, which moves the action from New York City to Florida.

The second season finds the fivesome heading south only to find more culture shock, financial woes, in-fighting and surprise visits.

Produced for TLC by Hot Snakes Media, Breaking Amish brought the network its highest ratings for a freshman season ever.
