Taylor Swift’s “22″ About Harry Styles And Justin Bieber, Sloppy Site Wrongly Says

Truth rating: 0

(HollywoodLife)

How lazy and careless is HollywoodLife?

It’s a question scientists have tried to answer for years, and Tuesday brought new evidence that the webloid is getting worse, not better.

The subject this time around is Taylor Swift’s next single “22,” which HollywoodLife dutifully announces “will be hitting the airwaves just in time for spring on April 1.”

That part is true.

Except Jay Penske’s HollywoodLife is not content merely with facts and reality.

No, the blog feels the need to plunge headfirst into overheated sensationalism, and so its story tries to link “22″ to Harry Styles, Selena Gomez, and Justin Bieber.

(Huh?)

The lyrics to “22″ begin, “It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters / And make fun of our exes, ah, ah, ah, ah.”

HollywoodLife smells scandal!

“We love the part about making fun of exes, could she be referencing Harry Styles and Selena’s ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber?” speculates the site.

Hmm… could she be?

We’re going to have to say… NO.

Because “22″ was written, recorded, and released as part of Swift’s “Red” album last October.

In other words, before Bieber and Gomez broke up, and before Swift and Styles even dated.

Because HollywoodLife has trouble understanding how show business works, it apparently thinks “22″ is a brand new song that Swift just wrote this morning — even though it links to audio that was posted in October.

And because HollywoodLife has trouble understanding how to use Google, it rarely checks to see if the alternate reality it pushes has any correlation to the real world inhabited by the famous people the site pretends to know.

Lame.
