Miranda Cosgrove
iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove is heading to network TV.
The actress has been tapped to co-star in NBC's Girlfriend in a Coma, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
From Nurse Jackie's Liz Brixius and Law & Order: SVU/Chicago Fire's Dick Wolf, the comedy revolves around Karen (Christina Ricci), who after almost two decades, wakes up from a coma to find out she has a 17-year-old daughter from a pregnancy she was unaware of when her life was put on hold.
Cosgrove will play Evie, a small-town overachieving loner who can't shake the legacy of being the daughter of "Coma Lady." When her mother wakes up, her world is turned upside down and every hope she had of keeping her nose to the grindstone -- saving money and getting grades for an out-of-state college -- is thrown out the window.

The single-camera comedy is based on the book by Douglas Coupland, with Wolf, Brixius, Danielle Gelber and Peter Jankowski on board to executive produce. Brixius will pen the pilot.
Should Girlfriend earn a series order, it would mark Cosgrove's first series regular role on the broadcast networks after starring in Nickelodeon's iCarly for seven seasons and four on the network's Drake & Josh. Repped by WME, Anonymous Content and Gang Tyre, Cosgrove next reprises her voice role in the animated feature Despicable Me 2, due July 3.
