Jane Lynch
Glee's Jane Lynch is jumping to NBC to host a new game show.
Hollywood Game Night, from producers Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (Grimm, Hot in Cleveland), will feature A-list celebrities hanging out and playing games with noncelebrity contestants in a cocktail party atmosphere, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Based on Hayes' real-life "game nights," the one-hour series has received an eight-episode order. At the end, one of two contestants will walk away with a cash prize. Although participating celebs were not revealed, NBC hinted that big names from TV, film, sports and politics, among other entities, would be included.
“With Jane Lynch on board as our host, we now have a key component in place that will further enliven the sheer fun of a raucous Hollywood party that will include real everyday people,” said Paul Telegdy, president alternative and late-night programming at NBC. “Her exuberant wit and ability to think quickly will be the perfect match for our show, which will give viewers a fresh look inside the off-set lives of their favorite celebrities -- and allow them a chance to win money as well.”
Said Lynch: "I'm so thrilled to let the world in on the fun with Sean at Game Night. The format is sure to provide a lot of unexpected results that will keep everyone off-balance and entertained.”
Hollywood Game Night is produced by Hazy Mills Production, Mission Control Media and Universal Television. Hayes, Milliner, Michael Agbabian and Dwight D. Smith are executive producers.
For NBC, Hollywood Game Night is the network's latest partnership with Hayes' Hazy Mills banner, which inked a new overall deal with NBC studio Universal Television last year. In addition to executive producing second-year drama Grimm and an upcoming guest arc on Smash, Hayes is attached to star in a multicamera pilot at NBC, which Hazy Mills will executive produce.
For Lynch, the hosting gig marks her latest following the VH1 Do Something Awards, 2011 Emmys and an episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live.
