CBS is adding bit of Homeland to its drama pilots.

The network has picked up Second Sight, a detective drama from Homeland EP/director Michael Cuesta and CSI's Carol Mendelsohn.

Based on the Clive Owen U.K. series, the drama centers on a homicide detective who is going blind but turns his affliction into an advantage as he uses his heightened senses and intuition to solve crimes.

Cuesta will write and executive produce the drama alongside his brother, Gerald. The former will also direct. Mendelsohn also is on board to executive produce the CBS Television Studios entry alongside Julie Weitz (Widow Detective) and Paula Milne, who created the U.K. series. Nick Reed and Phil Goldfine also will exec produce.

Cuesta becomes the first Homeland producer to score a pilot order this season after multiple projects from showrunner Howard Gordon failed to make it past the development stage among the broadcast networks.

The order for Second Sight comes a year after Michael Cuesta, who is under an overall deal at CBS TV Studios, directed the pilot for CBS' breakout hit Elementary last pilot season. His credits include Dexter, Six Feet Under and Blue Bloods, for which he also directed the pilot. He's repped by WME and Frankfurt Kurnit.

Gerald Cuesta's credits also include indie features L.I.E. and Roadie, both of which he wrote with his brother.

The drama marks the network's eighth drama pilot order so far this season, including the NCIS: LA spinoff, Jerry Bruckheimer's Toni Collette starrer Hostages and Shawn Ryan and Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop follow-up.

Second Sight marks the latest British series adaptation set up this pilot season, joining ABC's Spy and Pulling and NBC's The Gates, among others.
