Covert Affairs actress Devin Kelley has joined ABC drama pilot The Returned, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Criminal Minds' Aaron Zelman and based on the Jason Mott novel, The Returned asks what happens when the people you have mourned and buried suddenly appear on your doorstep as if not a day's gone by.
Kelley will play Dr. Gail Garland, tough, attractive and smart doctor at the local clinic in Arcadia with an inquisitive nature. Daughter of the local sheriff, her mother Barbara died 30 years ago in the same accident that killed an eight-year-old boy Jacob. Against her father's wishes, she teams up with Agent Martin Bellamy to get to the bottom of the mystery.
Kelley joins a cast that includes Matt Craven. Zelman will write and executive produce, with JoAnn Alfano, Jon Liebman, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Charles McDougall will direct the ABC Studios/Brillstein Entertainment and Plan B production.
Repped by APA and Group Entertainment, Kelley recurred on USA's Covert Affairs as Parker and was a regular on the short-lived Fox drama The Chicago Code. On the big screen, she appeared in Chernobyl Diaries.
