It’s been a rollercoaster season for Bachelor Sean Lowe.
He’s been duped by perhaps the most controversial contestant in recent Bachelor history, Tierra, and had to fight a conflicted heart and send a fan favorite home.
On Tuesday, Sean, 29, sat down with host Chris Harrison to talk about the tumultuous season so far. In a special episode, Sean spoke on why Tierra lasted so long and why he was so conflicted about sending Desiree home on Monday’s episode.

When it came to Tierra, the leasing consultant from Las Vegas, Sean said after watching the footage from St. Croix: “I think man, I was such a fool because I really do feel like I was duped.”
He added that he felt that Tierra “should have never come on the show.”
“She’s not suited for this show and she doesn’t know how to handle herself in this environment. I hope she’s learned from this, but Tierra is a woman that can’t get along with her peers,” he added. “When I watch it back I see she was getting into arguments with the sweetest, best people in the house.”
But he insisted that he wasn’t aware of the way Tierra was acting to the other women.
“Had I caught wind of everything the girls did earlier, I wouldn’t have kept her,” adding that he would have kept Jackie after the two-on-one date in Montana if he’d known.
Sean also touched on his decision to send home Desiree after the hometown dates on Monday’s episode. He called it a “heart-wrenching decision.”
“I thought maybe I did just make a huge mistake and maybe I should turn this around. I have all the respect in the world for Des and I didn’t want to hurt her, but at the end of the day I have to make the decision that is best for me and it just wasn’t Des,” he said.
Sean sent Desiree home after meeting her family in Los Angeles and having an uncomfortable conversation with her brother, who called him a “playboy.”
“I really wanted to hit him, I really did,” he said. “Anyone that knows me knows I’m the further thing from a playboy. It took everything in me to control my emotions. It was truly one of the strangest events. I just chalked it up to him being a jackass.”
The Bachelor airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
