Among those moving forward are stutterer Lazaro Arbos and Micah Johnson, whose vocal chords were severely altered after a tonsillectomy.

Burnell Taylor, who brought Mariah Carey to tears during his first audition, narrowly avoided elimination, and the diminutive Matheus Fernandes also got the green light.

One group, the Couch Potatoes, even received a standing ovation.

But others, like Kayden Stephenson, the 16-year-old battling cystic fibrosis, was eliminated after stumbling in his performance.

“I wasn’t ready,” Stephenson acknowledged afterwards, adding later, “I’m definitely gonna come back next year. I’m taking it all in and using this as my motivation to win next year.”

Check out Stephenson’s performance and elimination below.

Tomorrow, the remaining men compete in a solo round in hopes of making it into the Top 20.
