Roseanne Barr is back in business with NBC a year after the network passed on her Downwardly Mobile comedy pilot.
The actress who starred on ABC's Roseanne for nine seasons has inked a development deal with Universal Television to develop, star and produce a comedy for NBC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

As part of the pact, Barr will reteam with Roseanne's Nuts producer Steven Greener, who will executive produce the series alongside the actress-comedian.
Barr last season starred alongside her former on-screen husband John Goodman as the proprietor of a mobile home park and doubled as a surrogate mother to all the unique people who live there in a challenging economy in Downwardly Mobile, which was set up at NBC and 20th Television. NBC produced the pilot but the project did not move forward. Greener, whose credits include The Bernie Mac Show, also was attached to Mobile as an EP.
For its part, NBC will make quick use of Barr's talents and has cast the outspoken personality to play talent agent Carla Fern in a three-episode arc on The Office, where she'll help office manager Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) realize his showbiz dream. She begins filming this week on the comedy, which will wrap its run this season.
Before returning to broadcast, Barr dipped her toe in the unscripted arena for Lifetime. She starred in the reality series set on her macadamia nut farm in Hawaii for one 16-episode season.
