Katie Holmes has “decided to make a career change,” reports the National Enquirer, which claims the actress “may be headed to law school.”
The supermarket tabloid, which previously alleged that Holmes was having a mental breakdown (BOGUS), bought daughter Suri a $10,000 kid-sized Mercedes for Christmas (FALSE) and got a $100,000 makeover after leaving Tom Cruise (NONSENSE), quotes a supposed “source” as saying, “Katie started acting as a teenager, and she’s grown tired of that world.”
The purported “insider” tells the mag, “She expressed a keen interest in law while splitting from Tom Cruise, and now that the divorce is finalized, she has the time, the money and the opportunity to go to school.”
Holmes supposedly “sparked rumors of a career change when she was spotted in a Big Apple courtroom on Jan. 9 while watching her prosecutor pal, Leigh Bishop, deliver an opening statement,” notes the tab.
The magazine goes on to claim that Holmes has been “studying the high-powered attorney for some time.”
Actually, she was merely supporting her friend during a big moment in Bishop’s career, but OK.
What’s more, says the tab, is that “the legal profession is in her blood,” as Holmes’ father, Martin, is also a lawyer.
The Enquirer’s “source” says Martin is “thrilled she’s decided to follow in his footsteps,” adding, “They’re even considering going into practice together.”
Um… did we miss something here?
How does the mag’s “insider” go from Holmes possibly considering law school to planning to set up a firm with her dad?
Well, it doesn’t even matter, because the actress is NOT mulling a career switch.
Gossip Cop checked with a Holmes insider on this dubious story, and not surprisingly, we were told it’s “all lies.”
Once again, the Enquirer is found guilty of bad reporting.
