“Britney Spears’ return as a judge on next season’s The X Factor was blocked by the show’s producers after she wanted too much money,” begins a piece by RadarOnline, which recently laughably reported that the singer’s eldest son was fathered by Kevin Federline’s brother.
Anyway, in its latest stab, the webloid says Spears “demanded $18 million — a $3 million pay rise on her previous contract — to appear on the talent competition in 2013.”
The blog then quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “When producers asked if she wanted to return for a third season of The X Factor, Britney’s reps said she would only come back if she was offered $18 million,” noting that “after much deliberation, [the producers] just felt that Britney wasn’t worth that much because she wasn’t bringing enough to the table.”
“Her performance as a judge was scrutinized, and she didn’t really add anything to the show. They felt she didn’t warrant a $3 million pay hike,” adds the supposed “source.”
That’s certainly dramatic — and even more certainly inaccurate.
While it’s true, most people are looking to earn more money, Spears definitely has other — perhaps even more lucrative — options.
A source close to Spears says, “Vegas has been wooing her,” before taking a dig, “For millions, why would she stay on a bad show — she is in demand — has a career.”
As you’ll recall, last week Gossip Cop reported that Spears was in serious talks for a big-money residency in Vegas after she announced her “difficult decision not to return for another season” of “X Factor.”
