BBC America is bringing back two popular Doctor Who alums. The network announced Saturday that it's acquired the stateside rights to Brit drama Broadchurch, starring, among others, David Tennant and Arthur Darvill.
The eight-part drama will premiere in the U.K. on ITV before an American debut planned for the cable network's Dramaville block.
It follows the events and investigation that unfold in a small coastal town after the murder of a young boy. Tennant and Olivia Colman (Hot Fuzz) play the lead detectives looking into the crime, with Darvill playing the town priest. Vicky McClure, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Will Mellor also star.
Broadchurch comes from Kudos Film and Television (The Hour) and is written and created by Doctor Who scribe Chris Chibnall. Jane Featherstone joins him as executive producer, with Richard Stokes serving as producer.
Tennant left the titular lead on Doctor Who in 2010. He'll next be seen in the mini Spies of Warsaw on BBC America. Darvill only departed his part on Who this past fall.
