The Ringer actor is checking into ABC's Grey's Anatomy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The former Switched at Birth and All My Children player will recur on the ninth season of the Shonda Rhimes drama as a paramedic named Matt and a potential love interest for one of the Seattle Grace doctors. He'll first appear in late January or early February.

Details on just whom Bruening will romance are being kept under wraps, but the hospital does have two newly single docs in Cristina (Sandra Oh) and April (Sarah Drew), who both just split from their respective partners in Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Jackson (Jesse Williams).

"People start to really root for Jackson and April and since we're Grey's Anatomy, we've got to pull them apart and have them see what else is out there and how that makes them feel toward one another and see what, if anything, will draw them back together," Drew told THR during a recent set visit.

Cristina, meanwhile, recently professed that she wants Owen back but considering Owen's divorce bombshell, we're guessing anything could happen.

Bruening's credits include NBC's failed Wonder Woman pilot in 2011 opposite Adrianne Palicki. He's repped by Innovative Artists.
