Covert Affairs creators and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord have inked their first overall deal.
Universal Cable Productions have signed the duo behind their successful USA series to stay on as showrunners while developing new series for both cable and broadcast networks. They'll work closely with UCP's SVPs of development and current programming, Richard Rothstein and Maira Suro, and VP Tom Lieber.
“From day one, we have had a fantastic relationship with Matt and Chris," said Rothstein, who oversees the studio's series for USA. "They are terrific storytellers who have found a unique way to infuse the action genre with subtle insight that makes Covert Affairs such a rewarding experience, and that is the reason we are so excited to have them create the next UCP hit."
Corman and Ord, who started writing together during their time at Brown University, also co-wrote the 2006 feature Deck the Halls. Covert Affairs was their first TV venture.
"Since we began Covert Affairs, the creative process with our UCP and USA partners has been a joy," the duo said in a statement, "and we are thrilled to be continuing and expanding our collaboration with our studio family."
USP has similar deals with EPs behind other USA series, like Psych's Steve Franks and Royal Pains' Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch.
Covert Affairs, recently renewed for a 14-episode fourth season, returns to USA in 2013.
Both Corman and Ord are represented by CAA and Michael Schenkman
