Adam Lambert Joins Cyndi Lauper and Friends in New York City

Adam Lambert VH1 Divas - H 2012

It’s been three years since Adam Lambert captivated American audiences with his haunting interpretation of the Tears For Fears classic, “Mad World,” but an audience at the Beacon Theater in New York City was treated to an encore.

Lambert, who sported a new mustache for the occasion, was a guest performer at the “Cyndi Lauper and Friends: Home for the Holidays” concert to benefit homeless LGBT youth.

After an introduction by Bravo’s Andy Cohen praising all that is Adam ("he knows what to do with the mascara lines... the first openly gay person to go straight to number 1!")  Lambert and Lauper teamed up for a duet of the ‘80s chestnut to a screaming crowd.

Also appearing were Sarah McLachlanSt. Vincent, Jason MrazAlexis Krauss of Sleigh Bells, Whoopi GoldbergRosie O’DonnellRoberta FlackCarson KressleyAdam Duritz and David Immerglück of the Counting Crows.

In other Lambert news, the singer is on the cover of Fiasco magazine, hitting newsstands tomorrow. When asked about his time on American Idol, Lambert answered: "It's interesting, because you get all this hype and celebrity and it's of the moment. But as far as being an artist, that's not really explored until you put out your own original material."
