ABC
ABC is shaking up its schedule for three of its primetime series.
Sophomore comedies Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 will return two days earlier than previously announced, with original episodes returning Sunday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. replacing outgoing supernatural drama 666 Park Avenue.
Both comedies will also air new episodes in that hour Jan. 13 and 20. Nothing has been set in stone for February. (ABC will broadcast a Hallmark movie The Makeover on Jan. 27 and the Oscars take place Feb. 24.) Midseason drama Red Widow takes over the Sunday slot beginning March 3.
In addition to airing Sundays, Happy Endings and Apartment 23 will continue to air in its regular 9 p.m. Tuesday time period. So for at least three weeks, viewers will be getting double doses of both shows.
The move to slot originals of Happy Endings and Apartment 23 -- both struggling in the ratings on a competitive Tuesday night -- is an attempt at sampling the comedies in a new day and time, though their soapy Revenge lead-in may not prove to be beneficial.
Both comedies are slated to go off the ABC schedule in March and any leftover episodes would likely air in the summer.
The final episodes of 666 Park Avenue will now air in the summer.
