TV Ratings: ‘X Factor,’ ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Survivor’ and NBC’s Tree Lighting All Grow

The broadcast networks saw a surge last night over most recent broadcasts of originals and last Wednesday's Thanksgiving Eve slump, with nearly all series and time slots posting improvement.

ABC scored an average 2.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 7.97 million viewers, starting the night with A Charlie Brown Christmas (2.9 adults rating). Like its Halloween and Thanksgiving companions, the Peanuts special was also up versus last year, though only by a tenth of a point. Modern Family was also up a tenth to a 4.7 rating with 18-49-ers, easily making it the night's top broadcast. Suburgatory (2.6 adults rating) was up eight percent, while Nashville was even with a 1.8 in the demo.

A two-hour X Factor helped Fox tie ABC in the demo, averaging a 2.8 rating with 18-49-ers and 8.1 million viewers. Among the key group of adults, the series improved by 27 percent over last week.

Survivor was also up double digits from last week, improving 17 percent on CBS for a 2.7 rating among adults. Criminal Minds (2.9 adults) was up seven percent, and CSI (2.6 adults) was up eight percent. CBS topped in total viewers (11.5 million) and averaged a 2.7 rating with adults 18-49.

NBC lit up the tree with Christmas in Rockefeller Center. The special was up 11 percent from last year to a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49, a four-year high. A Saturday Night Live Christmas pulled a 2.7 rating in the demo, doubling last year's time period showing. The network averaged a 2.5 rating with adults 18-49 and 7.95 million viewers.

After a week off, Arrow was steady with a 1.2 rating with adults 18-49. while Supernatural was down a tenth of a point for a 0.9. The network averaged a 1.0 rating with 18-49-ers and 2.9 million viewers.

Univision had a 1.6 rating with adults 18-49.
