Jeremy Renner took the reins for the first time on Saturday Night Live -- showing off his singing abilities. How did the late-night sketch show do in the ratings?

It isn't exactly headline-grabbing, but the Avengers and Bourne Legacy star's turn improved a tenth from Anne Hathaway's hosting stint the revious week by averaging a 5.1 rating in metered-market households.

Renner's episode was also SNL's second-highest overnights of the season, behind only Bruno Mars' Oct. 20 gig which averaged a 5.4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night's SNL -- which featured a cameo by Gov. Chris Christie and musical performances by Maroon 5, including an Adam Levine appearance in "The Stand Off" short -- averaged a 2.7 rating among adults 18-49, a small improvement from last week as well.

It was announced during the broadcast that Django Unchained's Jamie Foxx will host Dec. 8 with musical guest Ne-Yo. Foxx hosted SNL in 2000.
