Matt Lauer said it was the biggest crowd for a concert they’ve ever had on the plaza, and that some fans camped out for up to five days, sitting in the rain.

The hit band first sang, “What Makes You Beautiful.”

They were then interviewed, and Liam Payne said they were “excited” about their sophomore album, “Take Me Home.”

But the big news, revealed by Niall Horan, is that the group is doing its “first ever movie,” set to be released on August 30, 2013, and “it’s going to be in in 3D.”

One Direction also sang “Live While You’re Young” and “Little Things.”

The band will be on the “Today” show again tomorrow, but it was pre-taped, so no need to bring out the sleeping bags.
