“Furious Mariah Carey has ripped into hubby Nick Cannon for making fun of her parenting skills on national TV — and she’s ordered him to put a lid on his insulting wisecracks,” according to sources for the National Enquirer.
The trouble supposedly began after Cannon “spouted off” on Anderson Cooper’s talk show about how he and Carey are raising 19-month-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.
Cannon said, “The kids run the house. My wife is being the diva that she is. I’m trying to keep up with them.”
The “America’s Got Talent” host also bragged about changing more diapers and getting his hands dirty with the tykes.
Of course, rather than just taking Cannon’s words as the harmless talk-show banter he intended, the Enquirer tries to the interview into some kind of trigger for Carey’s alleged rage.
The singer “was incensed,” a so-called “insider” tells the tabloid. ”Nick has made diva jokes before, but never related to Mariah being a parent. Claiming he was the main diaper-changer made her feel like he was saying she was less than a perfect mother.”
“Sometimes Nick lets his mouth run faster than his brain,” the Enquirer quotes a “friend” as saying. “But he should have known he was going to tick off Mariah with his parenting potshots.”
The source says Cannon has “had hell to pay at home” for his remarks and that Carey even threatened to “shut down his Twitter account before he makes a fool of her again.”
Please.
The Enquirer has a long history of publishing sensationalized stories about the couple, wrongly reporting supposed trouble over and over again.
This latest supposed clash over Cannon’s interview is just more of the same manufactured controversy.
A rep for Carey tells Gossip Cop the Enquirer story is “ridiculous.”
