A Daily Show interview from January with David Petraeus biographer Paula Broadwell made it big online over the weekend after it was revealed she and the retired four-star general had an affair.
On Monday, three days after Petraeus resigned as director of the CIA, Stewart revisited that interview with faux shame, berating himself for not realizing something was going on between his guest and the general.

Stewart spliced together quotes from the Broadwell interview that, taken in light of the affair, end up being sexual “innuendo after innuendo:”
“He loves serving. He loves being in the arena,” Broadwell said. “I thought I was going to test him, but he was going to test me. ... He crushed his pelvis but he was back in the swimming pool. ... He can turn water into bottled water.”
“The f---king thing never crossed my mind,” Stewart said after showing the clip. “I am the worst journalist in the world. For God’s sake, the title of her book was All In. She may as well have called the book What’s Got Two Thumbs and Is Banging His Biographer? This guy.”
Stewart also mocked NBC’s Today for booking Newt Gingrich (who has had his own affair experience) to lend analysis to the Petraeus situation and slammed conservative pundits for “conspiracy theories” about the timing of the announcement, particularly the charge that the former CIA director resigned so he wouldn’t have to testify before Congress about the attack on an American consulate in Benghazi.

“Now we’ll never know what Petraeus knew ... unless quitting is different from dying. And has no bearing on whether Petraeus will have to testify,” Stewart said before playing footage making it clear that the general would still likely be required to testify.
We’ll post video as soon as it’s made available, but in the meantime the uncensored interview with Broadwell can be viewed below.
