Jay-Z, E L James Among Nominees for Time’s 2012 “Person of the Year”

Jay-Z, E L James and Psy are among the nominees for Time’s 2012 “Person of the Year,” the magazine announced on Tuesday.

The 38 contenders for the annual honor also includes political satirists Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart, Olympic gold medalists Gabby Douglas and Michael Phelps and Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were also nominated, along with Malala Yousafzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for advocating women’s education.

Voting closes on December 12, and the winner will be revealed on December 14.

Last year’s ”Person of the Year” was “The Protester.”
