BOX OFFICEThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is set to lead the box office pack during a crowded, high-grossing extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
According to early estimates, the vampire franchise’s final installment is on pace to snag first place (again) with approximately $64 million for the five-day period, bringing its domestic total to about $230 million.
These initial figures — and projections for the movies below — are still very tentative.
The James Bond thriller Skyfall is expected to finish in second place with roughly $50 million, followed by a tight race for #3 between the presidential drama Lincoln and animated holiday fare Rise of the Guardians, both of which look likely to top $30 million.
Life of Pi, the visually audacious book adaptation, could debut in fifth place with a Wednesday-Sunday total of about $28 million.
Another new release, the American invasion remake Red Dawn, is expected to be neck-in-neck with video game character adventure Wreck-It Ralph, as both films are targeting $25 million hauls.
A trio of R-rated dramas — Flight ($9 million), Silver Linings Playbook ($5 million in limited release) and Argo ($4 million) — should round out the Top 10.
