Gigi Hadid is lucky to have a mother like Yolanda H. Foster, according to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville.
During the Nov. 12 episode of the Bravo reality series, 48-year-old Foster hovered over her the aspiring model's photo shoot. A former model herself, Foster insisted on seeing the 17-year-old's wardrobe and criticized her daughter's eye makeup as looking too "Chinese."

Foster also told her teenage daughter to curb her eating habits at her upcoming birthday party. "You can have one night of being bad," Foster told Hadid. "And then you gotta get back on your diet. In Paris, they like the girls a tad on the skinny side."

The scene outraged many viewers, with some calling Foster's advice "unnecessary" and "shallow." When Glanville, 39, stopped by Us Weekly's New York City offices Nov. 13, the mother of two stood by her costar.

"I know Yolanda, and I've seen her around her kids, and she is the best mom," said Glanville, mom to sons Mason, 9, and Jake, 5 (with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian). "She's like everyone's mom. She's even taken me under her wing."
Glanville added, "Just being a model and having been shipped off to Paris at 17, I wish my mom could have been at some of those photo shoots because there are some creepy people out there."

In Glanville's opinion, Foster was merely trying to protect and prepare her daughter for the realities of the modeling industry. "It's coming across like a stage mom, but she's not. She's such a loving mom, and Gigi's such a good girl. She does whatever she wants and she eats whatever she wants. I've never seen her diet," she told Us. "I think people are taking it the wrong way, because she's awesome!"
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
