Southland's Regina King has been tapped to guest star on the CBS hit, playing the director of employee relations at the university where Jim Parsons' neurotic doc is employed.

King will play Mrs. Davis, the head of human resources, who will have the unique pleasure of questioning Sheldon after the theoretical physicist lands in hot water following an uncomfortable conversation with his sexy assistant, Alex (Margo Harshman).
She's slated to first appear in a January episode of Big Bang Theory, reuniting with Johnny Galecki and showrunner Steve Molaro, with whom she participated in a USO Tour last spring.
On TNT's critical darling Southland, which was renewed for a fifth season set to return Feb. 13, King plays Detective Lydia Adams.

King becomes the latest guest star to join the CBS comedy this season, following Roseanne's Meagen Fay as Bernadette's mother, Star Trek's LeVar Burton, astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Bones' Ryan Cartwright as Penny's new classmate.
King, whose credits also include Ray and The Boondocks, is repped by ICM Partners and John Carrabino. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
