Dear Dumb Cat,
All through high school, I had a mentor who was 6 years older than me and of the opposite sex. We were really close during those years, but our friendship came to a standstill after I graduated and entered college. Now that I'm in my third year of college and we've reunited, I'm starting to catch feelings for him. Is it completely ludicrous to confront him about it because of the way that we met? How would I even approach him about it? I'm really confused, and think that he might be the one. Help!
Sincerely,
IDK in NYC
Dear IDK,
Transitioning from a mentor/student relationship to one where you are on equal footing can be tricky. Instead of confronting this person with your feelings out of the blue, pick an evening when you are both planning on meeting for a casual drink or dinner. On the day in question, search through your home for a paper bag (any old grocery bag will do!) that is large enough for you to comfortably sit on. Walk around on the bag so that it makes a crinkling sound, occasionally ripping off pieces of the bag with your teeth and leaving them scattered around you on the floor, until you have a lovely, crinkly paper bag nest for yourself. Sleep in your paper bag nest all the way through the night and into the next day.
Yours,
A Dumb Cat
Dear Dumb Cat,
I am attending university and my roommate is a total slob! She leaves all her stuff in the common areas. She put her storage in front of my dresser. And, to top it all off, she uses drugs inside the room. I don't know how to bring this up with her. What should I do to make my room livable again?
