The Killing might get a second life after all.
AMC, which aired the serialized drama for two seasons before it canceled it in July, is in talks with Netflix to bring back The Killing for what would be a third season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Fox TV Studios said in July, when it was announced that the cable network opted not to renew, that it "will proceed to try to find another home for the show."

If a deal goes through, AMC would get the first window for the new season, mirroring a deal similar to the one hammered out by DirecTV/NBC for Friday Night Lights.
The cast, including Emmy-nominated star Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, are under contract for a third season.
Based on the Danish series Forbrydelsen (The Crime), The Killing followed Linden (Enos) and Holder as they investigated the murder of teenager Rosie Larsen and all those connected to it. Each episode of the series covered the span of roughly one day. The Larsen murder was wrapped up by the season-two finale.

The Killing had a strong series debut, but ratings dropped in season two. Viewers and critics voiced their unhappiness at the end of its rookie year when the series' looming question, "Who killed Rosie Larsen?" went unanswered.
A possible return of The Killing would bring another established series back to the network's fold, as AMC readies the final episodes of Breaking Bad.
AMC and Netflix declined comment.
