Did Damon go to college?
That question is answered in a new scene released by The CW from next week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, "The Five." And now that Elena and her gang of friends are seniors in high school, what better way to plan for the future than to start visiting college campuses?

While Elena and Bonnie's visit to Whitmore College isn't exactly part of their post-graduation plans, their trip does serve a greater purpose. With Elena still adapting to her vampire desires (it's a marathon, not a sprint), in order for her to learn how to control her bloodlust it's decided Elena needs to go to a pro. What's more, Whitmore is also the college Bonnie's dear Grams taught at and the trio are about to meet her replacement: Professor Shane (guest star David Alpay).
Bonnie: "If I could spell you out of wanting blood I would, but I can't, so better you learn this now than in freshman orientation."
Elena: "Something tells me college isn't in my future any more."
