The CW Inks First On Demand Deal With Comcast

Six years after its launch, The CW has inked its first agreement to bring its primetime series to Video on Demand.

The network and Comcast announced Wednesday that, effective Oct. 25, CW programming will be available at no additional charge to Comcast subscribers with Xfinity On Demand.

“Our customers turn to Xfinity On Demand for the latest and most popular programs, and now we’re pleased to add The CW’s popular primetime lineup to our offerings," said Comcast SVP Matt Strauss. “We’re committed to giving customers access to the best and newest TV shows when they -- want, at their fingertips.”

The four most-recent episodes of each CW series -- including The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, America's Next Top Model and popular freshman Arrow -- will be available for streaming, each starting the day after their original TV air date.

The Big Four, as well as many cable networks, have long offered programming to On Demand subscribers for many carriers.

Comcast currently has digital TV subscribers in more than 20 million homes. The platform supports Nielsen's C3 ratings measurement.
