Earlier this week, photos surfaced of Robert Pattinson talking with a “mystery blonde” last Saturday at the Electric Room Bar in New York.
The grainy images showed the Twilight star and the unidentified woman in conversation, surrounded by other people in a crowded space.
That’s it.
A number of outlets immediately began frenzied, scattershot speculation about who the woman was, Pattinson’s relationship to her, and how everything tied to his potential reconciliation with Kristen Stewart.
At one point, laughably misguided webloid HollywoodLife screeched that it had “exclusive” information that the woman was model and actress Dree Hemingway.
In fact, the site went so far as to declare it finally had “the truth!” about the situation.
Of course, it was 100 percent bogus.
Hemingway was NOT with Pattinson last Saturday.
She wasn’t even in New York City.
Hemingway was at the Hamptons Film Festival for the premiere screening of her movie Starlet, something HollywoodLife never bothered to check before running with its speculation.
On Friday, the actress herself addressed the bizarre story, tweeting, “For the record was never with Robert Pattinson. I find this all hysterical considering I’m in Brussels and haven’t ever been to Electric.”
HollywoodLife has since pulled down its embarrassing goof, trying to pretend it never put Hemingway’s name into the mix.
Gossip Cop saw the same Pattinson photos earlier this week, and has since spoken with sources at the club and connected to certain other rumored “mystery blonde” candidates, looking to get conclusive information about last Saturday.
As with almost anything concerning Pattinson these days, fans and other outlets have put forward theories, but nothing has been verified.
When there is something solid to report, we will.
What we will NOT do is leave a giant mess on the floor, so to speak, and then run away from it.
