“The Farm,” the planned spinoff from “The Office” featuring Rainn Wilson’s Dwight Schrute character, appears to have hit a dead end at NBC.
On Monday, Wilson tweeted, “Farm Update: NBC has passed on moving forward with The Farm TV show. Had a blast making the pilot – onwards & upwards!”
The proposed show, based on an upcoming Schrute-centric “Office” episode, would have followed the character’s adventures as a beet farmer trying to run a bed and breakfast inn with his wacky family.
NBC has not officially confirmed the decision to pass on “The Farm.”
“The Office” is concluding a nine-season run next spring.
