Jennifer Lopez and boyfriend Casper Smart are in the midst of planning a “staged engagement, which may or may not be followed by a staged wedding,” claims Star.
The tab says, “The love between [Lopez and Smart] may be entirely real, but so is the desire to stay in the spotlight,” and quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “image and career are everything for Jennifer,” and she’ll even go so far as get “engaged to make magazine covers.”
Uh, we’re pretty sure Lopez has landed plenty of covers — including Star’s — without announcing she’s planning to wed again.
Regardless, the mag’s source alleges the singer recently met with a Manhattan jeweler in her New York hotel, where she “settled on a flawless oval stunner,” which will be the “gem for her own engagement ring.”
“And because Casper is working on the setting, no one can really say that she bought her own ring” when the two make it official this Christmas, notes the supposed insider.
“Afterward, they would make global headlines,” explains the mag, “and solidify their image as a happy, love struck couple.”
This is all part of J. Lo “playing games with engagement rings in a shameless bid to grab headlines,” adds Star.

In the meantime, the magazine reports Lopez has been wearing her engagement ring from her marriage to Marc Anthony as a “none-too-subtle message to Casper that he is replaceable, just like all her exes.”
“Plus,” says the tab’s source, “she loves the idea that people are buzzing about her still wearing that ring.”
Of course, this is all NONSENSE.
If Lopez wanted to get publicity from getting engaged to Smart, she would’ve done it months ago.
Star, you’ll recall, is the same magazine which claimed in recent months that the two were secretly marrying in March (WRONG), that Smart was worried Lopez was cheating with Enrique Iglesias (NOT TRUE), and that she left “Idol” to have a baby (FALSE).
Anyway, a rep for Lopez tells Gossip Cop that Star’s latest story is 100 percent “inaccurate.”
