Jon Stewart Mocks Mitt Romney’s Debate Performance, Foreign Policy (Video)

The Daily Show Jon Stewart Romney Debate 3 - H 2012

Jon Stewart has a new campaign slogan for Mitt Romney: “Follow me! I’ll be right behind the president."

The Daily Show host had a lot to say about Monday's foreign policy debate between Romney and President Obama, even if the two candidates didn't make many statements themselves. For the most part, he was incredulous at the GOP candidate's performance; Romney often agreed with Obama's stances on issues pertaining to the Middle East, which was a marked departure from his past year of criticizing the president's diplomatic efforts.

"Governor Mitt Romney appears to have made the calculated decision that his bellicose and hawkish performances in the Republican primaries would be less appreciated by ‘the normals,'" Stewart mocked. "Here’s the crazy part. After basically casting off what were months and weeks ago his bedrock principles and beliefs to copy Obama’s policy positions in a transparently cynical appeal to moderate undecideds, guess which quality Romney chose to highlight as the difference between the two men?"

Cue the highlight reel of Romney using the term "leadership."

Stewart wasn't all that kind of Obama, either, saying that he had adopted many of George W. Bush's aggressive foreign policy stances, and taking a shot at his use of drone warfare.
